Frontone Castle

Frontone is commonly denominated as the Marche's Switzerland for its salubrious climate and fresh temperatures. It has a resident population of about 1320 inhabitants and Catria mountain with its 1701 metres of altitude is the highest peak among those of Pesaro - Urbino province and Ancona province. Frontone's best pearl is the Castle, that dates back to XI century, whose structure has been entirely and finely renovated and now it hosts temporary exhibitions, banquets, conferences and concerts. Starting from the last Sunday on November, during the following 5 days of public holidays, a typical Christmas market takes place inside the Castle, in which you can find a lot of handcrafted products. There are many reason why a week of vacation in this lovely place could represent the best way to enjoy your free time. You can be delighted by the best local cuisine and you would be able to visit some of the near medieval villages: Gubbio (35 km) and Urbino (45 km). For those who love archeology, Pergola's village would represent a particular attraction, cause it hosts a particular artistic piece named as "Bronzi dorati". Something you must visit is the Frasassi Cavern, (25 Km). Nearby there are some others cultural attractions such as Sanctuary of Madonna dell'Acquanera and the Monastery of Fonte Avellana. For those who love mountain, there are a lot of trekking paths on the Catria massif (1701 m.), in which you can use the funicular railway to reach the highest peak even bringing your own bicycle! Among the most attractive public performances, there are the Tartufo's exhibition in Acqualagna (20 Km) and the Candle Race in Gubbio. During winter, a lot of ski resorts are opened on the Catria mountain.
